<div>The WEST Summit is <a href="http://www.sustainablesv.org/" target="_blank">Sustainable Silicon Valley’</a>s largest annual event, furthering the organization’s mission to lead the Silicon Valley community to a more sustainable future. WEST stands for Water, Energy, and Smart Technology, all critical elements necessary to drive sustainability in our region and globally.<a href="http://www.sustainablesv.org/" target="_blank">Sustainable Silicon Valley </a>and <a href="http://www.nasa.gov/centers/ames/home/index.html" target="_blank">NASA Ames Research Center </a>embarked on a partnership to identify and showcase game-changing, scalable, multiple-benefits solutions that address mitigation and adaptation to climate change, water availability and other issues threatening planetary sustainability. Participants will include financiers, corporate and entrepreneurial solution providers, researchers and governmental leaders.This Showcase is an initiative, authorized by a formal Space Act Agreement between <a href="http://www.nasa.gov/centers/ames/home/index.html" target="_blank">NASA Ames Research Center</a> and <a href="http://www.sustainablesv.org/" target="_blank">Sustainable Silicon Valley</a>, to solicit, review, publicize and showcase solutions that can scale to have true impact at a global level.</div>

<p>On February 1, 2013 <a title="StartupNectar" href="http://www.startupnectar.com" target="_blank">StartupNectar</a> launched an accelerator program in partnership with <a title="Biomimicry 3.8" href="http://biomimicry.net/" target="_blank">Biomimicry 3.8 </a>for the top 10 teams of the <a title="Biomimicry Design Challenge" href="https://www.biomimicrydesignchallenge.com/p/round-2-theme" target="_blank">Biomimicry Student Design Challenge</a>. The theme for the Biomimicry informed solutions challenge was water. Generously funded by<a title="Blackstone Ranch Institute" href="http://blackstoneranchinstitute.org/initiatives" target="_blank"> Blackstone Ranch Institute</a>, the Round 2 Accelerator was designed by StartupNectar to enable the teams to evolve their solutions into a viable business model that can deliver value in the world and enable the team to compete in a business plan competition, attract funding, or qualify the team for an incubator program.</p>
