About WEST SUMMIT - WEST: Water, Energy, Smart Technology

The WEST Summit is Sustainable Silicon Valley’s largest annual event, furthering the organization’s mission to lead the Silicon Valley community to a more sustainable future. WEST stands for Water, Energy, and Smart Technology, all critical elements necessary to drive sustainability in our region and globally.Sustainable Silicon Valley and NASA Ames Research Center embarked on a partnership to identify and showcase game-changing, scalable, multiple-benefits solutions that address mitigation and adaptation to climate change, water availability and other issues threatening planetary sustainability. Participants will include financiers, corporate and entrepreneurial solution providers, researchers and governmental leaders.This Showcase is an initiative, authorized by a formal Space Act Agreement between NASA Ames Research Center and Sustainable Silicon Valley, to solicit, review, publicize and showcase solutions that can scale to have true impact at a global level.

StartupNectar launches accelerator program for winners of the Biomimicry Student Design Challenge

On February 1, 2013 StartupNectar launched an accelerator program in partnership with Biomimicry 3.8 for the top 10 teams of the Biomimicry Student Design Challenge. The theme for the Biomimicry informed solutions challenge was water. Generously funded by Blackstone Ranch Institute, the Round 2 Accelerator was designed by StartupNectar to enable the teams to evolve their solutions into a viable business model that can deliver value in the world and enable the team to compete in a business plan competition, attract funding, or qualify the team for an incubator program.

StartupNectar partners with Swissnex and GCCA on 3D printing and Biomaterials event

Save the date! in partnership with Swissnex and the Global Cleantech Cluster Association, StartupNectar is co-producing a 3D printing and Bio-materials event May 2-4, 2013, in San Francisco. Stay tuned for the full program of speakers, experiential workshops, and entrepreneur mentoring.

swissnex San Francisco is an initiative of Switzerland’s State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI), managed in cooperation with the Department of Foreign Affairs as an annex of the Consulate General of Switzerland in San Francisco.

GCCA is a non-profit association, that strives to make local cleantech initiatives global. The GCCA is a network of over 48 cleantech clusters spanning nearly every continent. The GGCA creates conduits for clusters and companies to harness the tremendous benefits of international collaboration in an efficient, affordable, and structured way. The GCCA’s annual Later Stage Award provides a gateway for established and emerging cleantech companies to gain exposure to potential investors, new markets, influential networks, innovative technologies and best practices. GCCA was founded by swisscleantech, the Finnish Cleantech Cluster, Skipso, Technica Communications and Watershed Capital Group.
